Navigating insurance can be confusing, especially when it comes to therapy. While I don’t bill insurance directly, I offer super bills that can help you get reimbursed for your sessions.


What is a Super Bill?

A super bill is an invoice I provide after each session that you can easily submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. It includes everything your insurance company needs: details of the services provided, session dates, and the appropriate diagnostic and service codes.


How Does It Work?

Here’s how the process works in three simple steps:

  • Get Your Super Bill: After each session, I’ll give you a super bill.
  • Submit it to your Insurance: You send it to your insurance company, either online or by mail, depending on their process.
  • Receive Reimbursement: Your insurance will determine how much they will reimburse you.

How to Check Your Out-of-Network Benefits

To find out if your insurance plan covers out-of-network services for therapy, follow these steps:

  • Log in to Your Insurance Portal: Check your benefits online through your insurance provider. Here are the most common insurance providers who provide for superbilling:
    • Aetna
    • Blue Cross Blue Shield
    • Cigna
    • UnitedHealthcare
  • Contact Your Insurance Company: You can call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
  • Use a Reimbursement Service: Consider using a service like Reimbursify or SuperBill to streamline the process of checking your benefits and submitting super bills for reimbursement.
